COVID PROTOCOL UPDATE - APRIL 20, 2021

Dear Church Family:

Masks: We will no longer ask people to wear masks while entering and exiting; rather, we are allowing our members and guests to make their own decisions when it comes to wearing a mask. Simply, wear a mask if you feel like you need to; and, in a spirit of unity, respect others who may choose differently than you.

Although our local school districts will continue their masks mandates for classroom instruction, our age group team has agreed to allow each family to make their own decisions about having their children wear masks while here at church.

Social Distance: We are still asking everyone to maintain social distance, especially those who are not wearing masks.

Seating: We will begin opening up more seating and have "non-socially distance seating" as follows:

Seating in the Worship Center is open seating except we've reserved two sections on the main floor as socially distant seating (every other row is open). Sanders Hall is also socially distant and the service is live on the screen as an overflow option.

Coffee Shop:  Shepherd's Corner is now open on Sunday mornings from 8:00-9:30.

I realize that we all have differing opinions regarding COVID and COVID precautions. These are not easy decisions to make, but you need to make the best decision for you and your family. This philosophy is at the center of our new guidance.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Join me in praying for this weekend and join me celebrating our Risen Savior!

SCHEDULE UPDATE - FEBRUARY 23, 2021

Dear Church Family,

In a few weeks, we will be looking at the anniversary of the coronavirus coming to Arkansas and our lives changing overnight. One of the most difficult struggles throughout managing COVID for our church body has been knowing when to press forward and when to pull back to keep our members and community as safe as possible through this unprecedented season. As the COVID case numbers are lowering in our state and surrounding counties, we feel the freedom once again to offer Sunday school and small groups!

Beginning March 7, we will have the exciting opportunity to launch the following schedule and offer Sunday school for adults, students, kids, and preschool.

8:15AM - Sunday School

9:30AM - Worship (Blended and Modern)

11:00AM - Sunday School

The majority of our senior adult Sunday schools classes will be at 8:15am, while all of our preschool, kids, students, and their families Sunday school classes will be offered at 11:00am. Registration will be required for preschool worship care and Sunday school. We are asking at this time that our Sunday school classes for kids and students continue to wear masks because kids and students will be engaging with their peers outside their immediate family. This also falls in line with school protocol. The adult classes will not be required to wear masks during class; however, we do recommend you wear them, but ultimately we understand it is an individual choice.

As a reminder, we ask everyone to wear a mask while entering and exiting the building and while walking in the hallways. Once seated in the Worship Center or The Venue, you may remove your mask.

Please be in communication with your class/group in the coming weeks to ensure you have the right schedule and are informed of the correct meeting room as we have had to change a few rooms due to space constrictions. If you have any questions about your class, please contact your leader, the pastor over your ministry area, or seek out Pastor Curtis at [email protected].

We are excited about our return to Sunday school and small groups March 7 and look forward to expanding our ministry presence during this COVID season. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Grateful for His Grace,

Jason Miller

WEATHER UPDATE FOR SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21

Due to continued presence of ice and snow on roads, and the threat of continued freezing temperatures overnight, we are cancelling in-person worship services and all on-campus activities scheduled for Sunday, February 21.

We will have online worship at 9:30am on both Facebook and Youtube. Please continue to be safe and make plans to worship with us online tomorrow morning!

UPDATE - JANUARY 12, 2021

Church Family,

Last week we made the call to continue our Sunday morning schedule, more than likely, through the month of February:

  • 9:30am Blended Worship in Worship Center
  • 9:30am Modern Worship in The Venue
  • No Sunday School

Special Note: Starting Sunday, January 24, we will open up Worship Care for Sunday services for children babies through pre-K only. Please pre-register for Worship Care. To do so, visit gsfbc.org/sunday beginning January 17.

Hosting worship services in the Worship Center and Venue are great examples of how we feel like we can successfully manage our safety protocols and help maintain social distance in large group settings using large rooms. Since we have been able to host groups safely in large areas, we would like to continue doing this on Wednesday nights with our age group ministry programming.

Starting Wednesday, January 20, we will be hosting midweek activities as follows:

  • Adults: Chapel Service at noon in Sanders Hall

The following programs are from 6:00pm-7:00pm:

  • Preschool: Sonshine Kids, socially distant ministry programming (3-year-olds - kindergarten)
  • Kids: Large Group Mid-Week Service for 1st-4th grades in the Children’s Auditorium
  • Preteens: Large Group Mid-Week Service for 5th-6th grades in the Preteen Auditorium
  • Students: Verge Service for 7th-12th grades in the Venue
  • Adults: Women's Bible study (gsfbc.org/women) and Men's Bible study (gsfbc.org/men) in Adult Education Building large rooms

We will be asking these groups to maintain a midweek mask protocol:

  • Preschool: kindergarteners should wear masks at all times
  • Kids, Preteens, and Students: masks should be worn at all times
  • Adults: masks should be worn while entering, exiting, and during singing

More information from our age group staff and ministries will be coming your way. They may have specific information and guidelines you will need to follow, so please be watching closely for that information.

We are looking forward to being able to offer additional ministry opportunities! But, as always, if you need to be home, please stay home and engage with our online and virtual tools. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our office or email me directly.

Have a great week!

UPDATE - JANUARY 7, 2021

Before Christmas, our Directional Team decided to reduce our ministry schedule in light of suspected holiday COVID surges. In an attempt to protect our members and community from COVID exposure, we ceased all midweek activities and Sunday morning small groups. Our concerns have been validated over the last several days as we have seen new cases in the 3,000-4,000 range, Pulaski and Saline counties remaining in the top tier of counties with COVID, record-setting hospitalizations, and sadly COVID related deaths being the highest they have ever been. For these reasons, we have chosen to remain in our current schedule more than likely through the end of February.

Our staff team will meet next week to consider additional options and explore a few non-conventional ministry opportunities. We hope to release a COVID update in the middle of the week with more information.

We would like to remind all those attending in person on Sunday morning to wear masks while entering and exiting and during the singing portion of our services. Thank you in advance for your willingness to follow our safety protocols and help love one another as everyone has different needs and desires. We will get through this together and trust the Lord along the way!

If you have any questions, please contact any member of our Directional Team or email [email protected].

Worship Guidelines Update - December 2020

UPDATE - DECEMBER 27, 2020

In an effort to make the most informed decisions regarding our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening schedule, we will maintain our current schedule for January 3 and 10, with Wednesday evening activities remaining on hold. Our Directional Team will meet early in the new year to evaluate and determine the best options for resuming small groups and activities. We appreciate your prayers and support as we pray, evaluate, discuss, and seek God’s wisdom on next steps!

UPDATE - DECEMBER 1, 2020

WEDNESDAYS AT GEYER SPRINGS

We have seen an increase in our online worship attendance over the last few weeks. We are grateful that you have chosen to participate online and want to mention that we offer four platforms to view our services live over the internet: FacebookYouTube, our website at gsfbc.org, and our mobile app. In the last few weeks, Facebook has been somewhat unreliable. This issue seems to be with Facebook and not on our end. If at all possible, we would encourage you to consider using YouTube or our website. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Media Director, Billy Cannon, who will be happy to help. You may reach Billy at [email protected] or at 501-455-3474.

Thank you for praying with us as we continue to evaluate how to maintain our essential programming, invest in our community, and meet the needs within the body. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Grateful to Serve,

Pastor Jason
